The Jefferson County Historical Society has long been a resource for area teachers. We are continuing our educational programs this fall. All of our regular programs integrate at least 2 Indiana Academic Standards.
Our current programs are:
- It's A-Maize-ing!
- The Railroad and the River
- The Underground Railroad
- Indiana Indians
- Attention Scout Leaders!!
- Summer History Camp June 15-19 9.30 am to Noon
- 2015 Summer History Camp Registration Form
All programs include a reproducible packet and any materials used during the program. Appropriate books and/or videos are loaned to the participating class. The cost of the in-class visit or museum visit is $2 per student/chaperone for in-county schools, and $3 per student/chaperone for out of county schools. Teachers attend free of charge.
We also have permanent exhibits featuring the Civil War, early Madison businesses, the history of Madison’s rails and riverboats, and a Victorian-era parlor and a stone cottage.
You may call me to schedule a field trip or in-class visit at 701-9449.
